Hello Dandelions!
Our creative team is so proud to bring to the world our show Dandelion, An Original Musical!
Dandelion is a powerful new musical that examines the traditional expectations of female responsibility and caregiving alongside what it means to truly love yourself and the people around you.
In Dandelion, we tell the story of Jane and her family, and how they are all faced with profound questions of guilt, responsibility, and sacrifice when Jane must decide between attending college in pursuit of her lifelong dream, or staying home to care for her mother - who is struggling with severe mental illness and opioid addiction.
Dandelion is not a show about right and wrong, or good people and bad people. Instead, it’s a story about what it takes to live with the decisions we make. In this way, the story of Jane and her family is the story of our caretakers, our loved ones who are left to contend with unthinkable choices when all the systems around them fall short. Their experience is one that so many can relate to, and we hope to bring awareness to just how pervasive these experiences are, and that our show might, in some small way, help everyone who shares this burden feel less alone in carrying it.
We look forward to sharing this real story with you, and we can’t wait to see you for our fully-produced Workshop Premiere this August at Trustus Theatre.
Dandelion has received generous support for the whole of its journey, from all the friends and family who read early drafts, to two developmental readings with Ensemble Atria in NYC, a concert debut as part of the New Musicals series at Feinstein’s / 54 Below, an Equity Reading with Thousand Faced Theatre Company, and most recently a Workshop Reading in January 2024 with Trustus Theatre.
Please like and follow our social pages for all news and updates, and don’t hesitate to share and spread the word about our up and coming show! We can’t thank you enough for all your support, and we hope to see you in the audience soon!
